The Anti-Establishment Party Holiday
Happy Halloween everybody! Here it is. The one holiday where everyone can come together. The one holiday that invites in those of us who are not flag-waving patriots or Christians. Enjoy the one day out of the year that actually applies to you.

It’s Not About Anything You Think It’s About
Here at Drawing on Walls, we are still dedicated to all things outside the mainstream. The arts, creativity, and the products of those things (movies, music, theater, photography, literature and more) are on tap. Those scary topics that people shy away from (sex, politics, religion, depression, suicide, the supernatural, death), those are the issues we revel in. If it’s controversial, we’ve got it covered.

Dumbledore: You Homo!
So, it’s as far from the literary indie scene as you can possibly get, but there is no denying the power that the Harry Potter series has over we social deviants. Novels of wizards, witches, magic, and all manner of fabled creatures appeal to those of us who long for something outside of this reality. To this day, I remain surprised that the Harry Potter series has become as widely popular as it has. Could it be that there are as many of “us” as there are of “them”? Maybe we are at least gaining on them.
Last night, J.K. Rowling announced at a Scholastic event that Dumbledore was gay. I would like to say ‘kudos’. I would like to say ‘job well done’. I would like to, but it’s hard to not see this as cold comfort. After all, Dumbledore was only obviously gay in book 7, and, even then, not to the majority of people reading it.

The Editing Script
The way that the script was originally written and the way that I ended up cutting the film together after viewing the footage are vastly different. In the original, the action all occurred in chronological order. When I went to edit, I realized that breaking up the beginning and creating memory-type flashbacks were better for viewing. It gave the movie a more active feel and made a nicer mix of the drama and comedy. If you’ve already checked out the shooting script, now you can check out the editing script and see the differences.

The Original Screenplay
The original screenplay used for the filming of Drawing on Walls (…and other socially dictated signs of deviant behavior). For the actual shoot, the script was laid out by day, in filming order, but all of the changes to this order during filming made that layout pretty inaccurate.
The script of this film is definitely an artistic rambling. Some may even take offense at the depiction of people content with everyday life as mundane and conforming. However, if you are a creative person trying to survive this very routine world, you will relate.
Find the original script here.
