Sort of a random thought I guess…

Today, as I was driving to work, the top of the city was missing. It was really foggy and the taller buildings just kind of went up and disappeared into the mist. Whenever this foggy sky thing occurs, I always think how there is no way in hell I would go up to those top floors. The way I figure it, if I can’t see it, it’s not actually there. Or, it’s there, but once you hit the mist, you are seriously taking your chances on going up into some strange Twilight-Zonish world of fog. Basically, it freaks me the fuck out to see this particular phenomenon, and I don’t know why.

If you are a believer in reincarnation, then you have to believe in the byproduct that are past lives. If you have come back to Earth for another round of strife and awakening, then you must have lived at one time or another prior to that life.

But what is the deal with past lives?

Are they accessible to us? Open for our exploration? Or are they a closed and locked book that we were characters in, but of which we can never know the story?

People have experiences all the time that are bizarre and escape explanation, memories and dreams of times before they were born, of places they haven’t ever been, of having skills that they don’t possess.

It’s possible.

Poltergeists are pesky little spirits, hell bent on throwing things around and running up your electric bill by turning lights and electronics on. Supposedly, they have a tendency to haunt adolescents and young adults, those with an exceptional amount of emotional strife.

Translation: The pulsing energy from an angry teenager is potentially enough to bring your house down around your ears.

I definitely concur that angry teenagers are an incredible danger. I also, sort of, think this whole energy, vibe, crazy shit happening all around because of it is highly possible.

Who doesn’t think adolescents are evil?

But seriously, Poltergeists have been documented again and again, and always seem to link back to a disturbed youth.

Treat your children with care. They may break your favorite china pattern.

Or in a bathroom in the middle of the day.

So, my ghostly encounters, (which I freely admit could have been caused by an old, creaky building, but weren’t), got me thinking again about the supernatural. There are a lot of people who don’t believe in this stuff. And there are a lot of people who do. But this is an area where I strongly feel that no proof in the world will be enough for the skeptics, and there is no proof in the world that will make believers stop believing, which is why spiritual and supernatural live in the same category for me.

I’m struck by the fact that, in a lot of people, these beliefs seem to be dueling. They refuse to live harmoniously. Especially in Christians, who believe in a God and all of the stuff in the Bible, but think that belief in ghosts somehow adds to their list of sins.

I’d love further explanation on this, because I just don’t understand.

Both yesterday and Friday, the ghosts (or ghost singular, it could just be one) of the bathroom at work decided to come out and play. Both days I was in there alone, in my usual stall (everyone has a stall of choice at work, don’t they?) and there were loud bangs right outside the stall door.

This makes me decidedly uncomfortable. One, because they are ghosts and that’s disturbing, and, two, because I don’t know exactly what kind of ghosts would purposely choose to hang out in a bathroom and come out to play when someone’s trying to use it. I’m guessing ghosts with a little fetish in their pasts.

Anyway, it happened again. I didn’t like it again. And no one has called to fire me… again.

Guess I’ll be playing wtih Casper again tomorrow.
